What is OmegaBall?

OmegaBall is a fun and action-packed, high-scoring variation of traditional soccer. The objective is the same – score more goals than your opponents – but with 3 goals and 3 teams on one circle-shaped field, there are a lot more goals to celebrate!


You still get to dribble, pass, shoot, and defend, but now you have more goals to aim for. A few soccer rules have been modified to make the game more fun, higher scoring, and eliminate stoppages.

  • The field is circular.
  • 3 teams compete on the same field at the same time.
  • There are 3 goals – you can score on either of your opponents’ goals.
  • No offsides (opportunistic cherry-picking is encouraged).
  • No throw-ins – instead there are 3 dead ball spots where a player takes a direct kick to restart play. It’s similar to a corner kick (we know… it’s round so there are no “corners”).
  • Each team has 5 players, which includes a goalkeeper. So there are 4 “field” players on each team.
  • Substitutions are unlimited and can happen at any time.
  • The game is played in 3 periods. The teams rotate which goal they are defending after each period.
  • An “own goal” subtracts from your score. Yes, you can have a negative score. An unintentional deflection counts as a goal for the shooter, not as an own goal.
  • Play restarts are quick. 5 seconds are allowed for out-of-bounds dead ball kicks, goal kicks, free kicks, and even after a goal is scored.
  • After a goal, play is restarted with possession for the team that was scored upon. They restart play with a goal kick.
